Carolyn Stanley
Tangus the Hero Dog
12 x 12"

Caroline May Stanley was born in Cape Town, South Africa on December 14, 1984 to a British father and Dutch mother. After several moves, the family relocated to Calgary in the fall of 1987, where they still reside. Middle child of three girls, Caroline has always had a strong affiliation for fine art, taking part in numerous drawing, painting and ceramic classes throughout her life. This culminated in Caroline receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2007 from the Alberta College of Art + Design.

Life for her has always included a dog. Her home presently accommodates a feisty miniature Dachshund, Sisquo, and a laid-back Golden Retriever, Honey. These two top the long list of creatures which have fallen into her hand of creativity. Her paintings reflect a distinctive sense of colour, an intimate connection and captivation with the animal world as well as unique views of nature. For this artist, inspiration can be found almost anywhere within nature and a blank canvas offers a creative playground for that vision to come forth.

Over the years, Caroline has developed a relationship with her artwork. The act of painting has become an extension of herself, an expression of her life and the fascinating lives she encounters. Creativity in an essential component in maintaining her sanity and balancing the well being of both her mind and soul.
