Vision Statement
A dynamic group of women building friendships and collaborating to inspire positive change within the community. Who do we help? Calgary-based charities seeking funds for whom our contribution will make a significant impact. We typically support organizations focused on women and children, however, other causes, including special causes associated with our members, will also be considered. If you a charity that meets our mandate, please submit an application. If you know of a great charity, please send us an email! Mission StatementArtemis Foundation positively impacting our community.
Artemis Foundation was established in November of 1999, initially as Women in Motion Society, a non-profit organization. In 2004, Women in Motion became Artemis Foundation.
Currently, Artemis consists of 24 members. We are looking for dynamic young women (ok, young at heart) to get involved. Artemis is the Greek goddess of the hunt, known for a strong, independent nature as well as being the protector of women and children. Artemis Foundation identified with this character, as our mandate is to assist women and children, by contributing to causes that better their lives. Combine our mandate with our membership - strong, independent, educated professionals, many of whom are entrepreneurs and leaders, and the connection is clear. Finally, since all our members are goddesses at heart, Artemis was the logical choice. Artemis Charitable Foundation's goal is to facilitate unique fundraising events that benefit a variety of local charities. Since its inception in 1999, Artemis Foundation has raised over $292,000.00 for Calgary charities.
Our signature event is the Annual Gallery Calorie™ Tour on 17th Ave SW. Held the second Saturday in June, the Tour is known for showcasing some of Calgary's finest restaurants and art galleries through a self-guided, walking tour. Restaurants offer tour participants samples from their bars and menus, galleries offer samples of fine liquors or wines as well as catered menu items from participating restaurants. Participants enjoy the sights and sounds of 17th Ave, including the Last Venue, the wrap-up party held in Tomkins Park, featuring the one-of-a-kind Art Race, food, drink, silent auction and live entertainment to dance the night away.
